Praja Pragathi Trust (PPT) is a not to profit Organization working for the vulnerable communities, which is more focused on tribal, Dalits & other backward communities, reaching more than 200 villages in 20 mandals of Chittoor and Nellore Districts, Andhra Pradesh. The organization started its focus on livelihoods to make the communities survive by identifying the opportunities available locally and by enhancing their capacities. It started to empower women through Institution Building and Capacity building, which made them explore Micro Enterprises, Skill Development, and Alternate Livelihoods.
As the target area is more prominent in agriculture and the farmers are constantly facing issues in productivity & yield, which has prompted them to take up Sustainable Agriculture activities which include water-relevant activities & irrigation through cooperatives & farmer producer organizations. In recent years, promoting Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO) is likely to enhance the farmer’s opportunities by all means and the Government is also supporting them a lot.
PPT has started to focus on FPO and it is presently collaborating with the prestigious project, “Mission Vasudha”. The organization wanted to change the next generation from the backward communities, where education was being neglected and it was time, it expanded activities on Education & Children. Meanwhile, on the other side, the eligible BPL families are ignorant about accessing their rights, Government schemes & Programs, for which Organization is capacitating the communities in Advocacy & Lobbying.

The vulnerable groups are not having sufficient knowledge of the programs and schemes of the project, introduced by the Government and they are unaware of rights & Acts like tribal rights, forest rights, RTE, RTI etc,. to claim them, not reachable to special schemes like SC-ST Sub Plan & ITDA, exploitation in NREGS works, no community participation & in most cases, they don’t have berth in the local level institutions. PPT identified the above gaps & issues in the communities and to address the situation, it has associated with funding agencies and the Government to implement the activities that result in the accomplishment of organizational objectives.
